Urban Proposal
I am proposing to reactivate the Whau River surface to a vibrant recreational space. This should create stronger public awareness through a greater focus on the river itself.
This is to be achieved through a catalog of semi permanent, freely floating infrastructure for the river. These floating furniture can provide programs to the river activating the spaces around them through formal and informal activities.
The pieces will enable river access for everyone through the river transport stalls, while the floating cafe and bar will serve as an attractor. It is also possible to transform the unique water space into a stage for the arts, particularly now when Avondale and New Lynn do not have such a specific venue.
